North Korea defies predictions

North Korea's latest nuclear test resulted in an explosion five times more powerful then its previous ones with enough force to destroy a whole city. North Korea claims and evidence suggests that this was a thermonuclear weapon,  the world’s most destructive force. “If you look at the United States, the Soviet Union and China, by their fifth nuclear tests they were all well on their way to thermonuclear weapons,” Jeffrey Lewis, founder of Arms Control Wonk, said. “There is no reason to think that North Korea couldn’t do this. The materials are pretty straightforward, so that’s not a problem. In the past, the trick was the concept. But you also need tests and data to understand how the materials behave.” This quotes was included by the author because it shows that North Korea is perfectly capable of creating such weapons. It  gives background information about the speed of other countries being able to create thermonuclear weapons to prove his point.
